CEO Firoz Jhaver with ATOM Solutions on Niche Markets and Specialized Services

Firoz Jhaver, CEO of ATOM Solutions, an IT and business process consultancy, was a guest on Texas Business Radio. Recently named to the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies (#1218, by the way), the firm was also ranked #24 on the list of Top Houston Companies with an overall growth of 319% over the last three years. Jhaver had some interesting things to say about how his firm has flourished by helping other businesses succeed.

“ATOM was founded 5 years ago to fill an emerging need in the energy [commodities] market,” Jhaver said. He explained it this way. From the time energy is produced until it reaches the consumer, the producer needs to keep track of activities and information about the product; its gathering, processing, fractionalization (a separation and purification process that changes the form of the energy), blending, refining, even its transportation.

These processes are so unique that they are not addressed in most ERP systems. ATOM solves a very specific problem for the energy industry and other commodity businesses. Working with off-the-shelf software, they extend its capabilities as far as possible. If that’s not an option, they build a new software solution to integrate with the company’s backbone ERP and assist with the implementation.

Jhaver cited several trends that he sees having an impact on business. The first was regulation. Legislation is forcing companies to add new functionality, to update the capability of their software in order to meet requirements. Another trend is the increased focus on data analytics for insight into business processes and performance. This, in turn, is enticing even the most conservative of companies to take a closer look at the scalability of the cloud.

These trends have given ATOM another problem to solve. They close the gap between software consulting and business management services. Jhaver ticked off the list of experts on staff. “We have project managers, business process experts, and IT consultants … It’s our job to help [clients] by delivering value, ROI, and the efficiency that will give them a competitive advantage.”

Jhaver and ATOM Solutions have chosen a path to success similar to one cited by Sir Richard Branson in an article on LinkedIn Pulse. “There are thousands of simple business solutions to problems out there, just waiting to be solved by the next big thing in business.”

ATOM’s 319% growth over 3 years is consistent with the characteristics of high-growth firms, identified in Research Summary by Hinge Marketing: a narrowly focused target client, use of marketing partnerships, offering specialized services … adding new products and exploring a technology/service mix.

BigTime Software would like to recognize ATOM Solutions for working with their clients to develop their IT strategy and to craft solutions that leverage its deep domain expertise and the application industry best practices.
